Her Walls

Walls don’t hurt
But sometimes
Out of curious wonder
Walls seem to suffocate

She’s too aware
That the illusion of lacking air is better
Than the real thick smoke outside

For a moment
She almost believed that she’s not living inside her walls
Until she remembered
All those who have died outside their walls

In a snap back to reality
She inhaled, exhaled
Looked around her carefully built walls
And got lost
In the wonder of the world within
Her walls
